Vietnamese Independence Day

September 2nd is celebrated as Vietnam's Independence Day. In 1945, Ho Chi Minh declared Vietnam independent under the new name of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (DRV) in a speech on the same day that Japan formally surrendered in World War II.
It is a day of rememberance and celebration, and I purchased a traditional ao dai for Allison to wear to the school assembly.
